On Guard
1. I've been approached by salesmen who are selling SweetPDZ or BioSupra. Why is On Guard and Adsorb Plus different from these and other products in the marketplace?

When discussing competitive products with On Guard, the significant differences lie in the ingredient makeup and the processing used to formulate the finished product. On Guard is a product with a low ph as opposed to competitive products that are limestone and calcium-based products with a higher ph. A high ph allows bacteria and other organisms to grow which won't provide the same health benefit of On Guard. The processing used to formulate On Guard opens the molecules of the product allowing it to be effective on a much larger surface area and ultimately in the external environment. Finally, high quality ingredients and patented processing position On Guard above the competition.

2. Will On Guard hurt my animals? If not, why?

On Guard will not hurt any animals because it is developed through natural chemistry. The ingredients will not have adverse affects on any animal.

3. How many times do I need to apply On Guard? How Much?

The standard rate of application is 1 lb./100 ft.2 for the first 3 days of application. After the initial application, spread On Guard at the same rate once per week. In addition, use On Guard more frequently when problem areas arise or during periods of stress when your animal is most vulnerable to disease.

4. How long does it take to apply On Guard?

On Guard is easy to apply. It can be as simple as spreading by hand using the measuring cup provided in each bucket. We recommend using the Dustin-Mizer to apply the product or for large areas, leaf blowers with vacuum capability are very effective.

5. Why is removing moisture from my facilities so important?

Removing moisture is a critical step in order to prevent disease. Moisture aids in harboring bacteria and when extra measures are taken to reduce moisture - you are also reducing the risk of disease. Moisture is common in most all facilities involving show animals. For example, Cool rooms built to grow hair on cattle are usually damp and dark for a reason. This is an opportune area for bacteria to thrive, ammonia levels to rise, and fungus & ringworm to survive. On Guard will dry the environment, reduce the level of ammonia and protect against the threat of fungus and ringworm.

6. Why is controlling ammonia in my facilities so important?

There are a couple of reasons that ammonia control is vital in animal production. First and foremost, the animal itself has to deal with ammonia and at higher levels, it will affect the intake of oxygen and affect the filtering of impurities in the air they breathe. Secondly, the ammonia taken in with the air is transferred directly to the blood stream through the lungs and will reduce the effectiveness of the vital organs inside the animal. Finally, a key reason for ammonia control is the comfort and safety of the labor force working with the animals on a daily basis.

7. I have a deep-bedded facility. Should I change the bedding before I start applying On Guard?

On Guard can be used both before and after bedding is changed. Because the application rate requires 3 days of treatment, we recommend application directly to the bedding, in addition to any opportunity when new bedding is applied. Remember, you can use On Guard in the presence of your animals, which means it is safe to apply while the animal is in the pen, directly on top of the bedding.

8. Can On Guard be used to prevent Fungus, Ringworm and Foot Rot?

Yes, by using On Guard as recommended in your animal's environment, you will prevent the spread of fungus and ringworm. Many families who show sheep rely on On Guard as preventative measure against fungus and ringworm with great success - read more. In addition, use On Guard to treat and prevent foot rot .
